ökosphäre Spins off Compressed Natural Gas Business as Ciengas, LLC

After more than a year of incubation in ökosphäre's business initiatives group, the firm's compressed natural gas (CNG) efforts are being transferred to newly formed Ciengas, LLC

Rexburg, ID, September 29, 2009 – To spur new development and investment in compressed natural gas (CNG) as replacement clean fuel for vehicles, ökosphäre is spinning off key assets, technology, and business relationships of a start-up business effort incubated in ökosphäre's business initiatives group to form an independent company called Ciengas, LLC.

Ciengas will develop, build, and manage a network of CNG refueling stations across the United States. In addition to focusing on retail delivery of CNG fuel, Ciengas will also create direct relationships with natural gas producers and brokers to build a reliable well-to-pump delivery system. Having already established relationships with world-leading CNG equipment manufacturers, Ciengas expects to install its first CNG fueling station in the first half of 2010.

Compressed natural gas or CNG is a domestically abundant, clean burning fuel that directly replaces traditional liquid fuels like unleaded gasoline. Producing 90% less emissions than unleaded gasoline, CNG offers similar vehicle performance at less than one-half the cost per gallon. With literally decades of already developed supply, a change to CNG would finally allow the U.S. To break its dependence on foreign oil while significantly improving the environment in the process. As a domestically available fuel, thousands of new jobs will be created to develop this resource. Most importantly, the CNG network can be easily re-purposed for hydrogen fuels as that technology matures. Several commercially produced CNG vehicles are already available with more to come as the CNG refueling network grows.

Ciengas will be announcing senior management appointments shortly. In the meantime, ökosphäre will continue to provide business management and consulting to Ciengas during a short transition phase.
